The archetype
A clear mind and discernment. The ability to see beyond illusions and to choose clearly what is true and right for her Self. She cuts away what no longer serves and protects her boundaries with elegance and firmness.
In the tarot
In traditional tarot the Queen of Swords is a woman who has known pain and drawn clarity from it. Independent and direct, she sees things as they are and says them plainly. In the Rider-Waite-Smith deck she sits in profile with her sword raised, beneath an open sky where a single bird flies: the free gaze of someone who has learned to think for herself.
Light
Clarity, truth, autonomy, integrity, justice, healthy limits. Conscious choice. A lucid view of reality. The ability to tell the truth without wounding.
Shadow
Coldness, judgment, control, rigidity, hyper-rationality. Difficulty showing vulnerability. Cutting away even what would deserve understanding.
The journey
From the fear of making mistakes to trust in her own choices. From defensiveness to transparency. From the mind that commands to the heart that decides with intelligence.
Recognizing her in you
You see clearly and you know how to choose. You set boundaries, say no, and let go of what no longer belongs to you.
You feel her strongly when…
- you say clearly when someone crosses one of your limits;
- facing a decision, you line up the facts and choose, even if it costs you;
- when you are tired, you need silence and a little order around you;
- the hardest thing for you is asking for help and showing you are fragile.
Giving her space
The step toward the Empress is letting your heart take part in your choices too, and showing your vulnerability without feeling in danger.
Element and signs
Air is the element of the mind, of words and ideas: the breath that brings clarity, the wind that clears the fog. In the zodiac it is the element of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, signs of thought, dialogue and freedom.
You don't need to be born under these signs to have this Queen strong in you: the element speaks of a quality we all carry, not of a date of birth.
Her words
I choose me.
I choose the truth, even when it is uncomfortable.
I choose what is aligned with who I am.
I don't need to please everyone.
I need to be true to myself.
I see. I choose. I create my own path.

Which Queen is strongest in you?
Sixteen questions, no right answers. At the end you will see how much space each Queen takes up inside you, and you can download your Queen's coloring plate as a gift.
